I personally restore the mechanics of English, French, and good quality German, antique clocks, which means any clock made between the 17th and middle of the 19th century. I do not do mass produced clocks from the 20th century – these, by their nature, were never designed to last.. I always give an estimate for the work involved before starting, and, if for any reason, there is unforeseen extra work required, I will discuss it before proceeding. I give estimates, not quotes, Clockwork is not an exact science, some things take longer than others, but it would be very unusual for the eventual bill to differ greatly from the estimate.
Where required, I organise any further work needed to the dial or casework , by equally well trained restorers , estimates are again given. I can call to the house to collect and or deliver, if required, when there would be a further charge.
