Richard Widenham of London £2,350

An excellent quality fusee bracket clock by Richard Widenham of Lombard Street, London, maker and prize winner to the Admiralty.

A high quality yet simple rosewood case with few stylistic features except the fineness of the rosewood grain.

Plain round silvered dial with the maker’s name and address to the upper centre. Very fine ‘moon’ style hour and minute hands.

As would be expected for a chronometer maker, a straightforward high quality single fusee movement with good quality pendulum and pendulum lock for travelling.

Given its simple styling it was probably made for use by the admiralty itself.

Height 10.5 in., Width 8.25 in., Depth 5.5 in.
