George Claridge of Chepstow £3,950

An attractive and small mahogany longcase clock by George Claridge of Chepstow.

Pretty painted dial by Finnemore, featuring flowers to the corners, roman hour numerals, seconds dial, and calendar aperture. Original matching blued steel hands.

The mahogany veneered case with much use of  the decorative ‘flame’ markings, crossbanded door and base, swan neck to the hood and ‘wavy’ hood door typical of the area.

8 day bell striking movement.

Standing 6 foot 11 inches tall to the finial, with a 12 inch dial.

Makers Information

George Claridge was working in Chepstow at Bridge Street, Davies Court, and at St Marys Street, between 1815 and 1861. This clock is c.1840.
