John Coates of Cirencester £1,500

A locally made 30 hour longcase clock by Coates of Cirencester in a replaced case.

Pretty oak longcase clock, perfect for a Cotswold cottage. The light oak case being made about 50 years ago as a replacement for the original which was badly damaged in a fire. Good quality and correct in style and period, made of solid oak with a good grain.

The square brass 10 inch dial with silvered chapter ring marked for hours and quarters only ( common for a country clock), having the original single blued steel hand. The dial with plain centre and original spandrals.

Typical ‘plated frame’ 30 hour movement.

Altogether a pretty and small cottage clock at a very realistic price.

Standing 6 foot 4.5 inches tall.
