Richard Phillips of Asbourne £4,750

An oak longcase clock of small proportions with a square brass dial by Richard Phillips of Ashbourne.

The plain oak case with attached columns, flat top hood and long trunk door, having no form of decoration save a wavy top to the trunk door.

The 12 inch square brass dial with matted and engraved centre, silvered   mouth style calendar, seconds ring and silvered chapter ring with unusual minute band.

Original blued steel hands.

Well made 8 day bell striking movement.

Standing 6 foot 5 and a half inches tall and with a twelve inch dial.

Makers Information

Richard Phillips is listed as working in Asbourne between 1750 and 1757. There was another Richard Phillips working in Loscoe between 1710 and 1720. Both short working dates, but there maybe a connection between them.
