Restoration Services

Antique Clock Restoration.

Unlike most other things in the home, clocks need to be completely dismantled, all working parts attended to, cleaned and reassembled every 20 years or so. This work is all done by hand with much care and attention to detail, and therefore takes many hours – anything from 10 to 20 hours on each clock.

All clocks that I sell are restored in house by myself or my assistant, both West Dean trained and with many years of experience, both graduated in the early 1980s.

We also restore customers clocks.  English, French, and good quality German, antique clocks, which means any clock made between the 17th and middle of the 19th century. This was the period of good quality clockmaking. After 1860 clocks are being manufactured by machine, and like all mass produced things, were not built to last.

Estimates are given for the work involved before starting.

Where required, I organise any further work needed to the dial or casework , by equally well trained restorers , estimates are again given.

I am happy call to the house to collect  and or deliver.

I also do house calls to look at clocks, there is a small charge for this, covering anything like correct setting up, but no mechanical work can be done at home.
